Zynga Words With Friends Hacked

Updated: Sep 6, 2021

ALERT SUMMARY

A recent article from Consumer Affairs reported a major data breach in September 2019, at the application developer Zynga, with over 173 million accounts compromised. That’s more than half of the population of America!

Zynga is a company that produces well known mobile games such as ‘Words with Friends’, ‘Farmville’, and ‘Zynga Poker’. Allegedly the company knew of the hack months before telling its users of the hack. The attack was originated out of Pakistan. What was stolen from users ranged from email addresses to login ids and passwords. Phone numbers and names of users were also compromised.

While Zynga states that no financial information was compromised, there’s an investigation concerning the breach on to what else was compromised, including any financial breaches.
